Today (7/15/13), we took the Grossglockner Alpine road. This may not sound very exciting, but it is actually breathtaking. This 48 kilometer highway is part of the Hohe Tauern National Park. It has a $33 Euro per car entrance fee (which something we read indicated may be good for a week???), but, as mom and I spent about 7 hours there, it was money well invested. In the park, you are surrounded by over 266 mountains over 3,000 meters high. There are 12 official stops along the way, but it is breathtakingly beautiful anywhere you look.
